Romanian Relief is the first and only charity that is accredited to work at the maternity hospital in Oradea. We started our prevention of abandonment programme here in 2006 and currently have two full time staff working within the hospital,

On average there are 16 babies abandoned and living at the maternity hospital at one time. Romanian Relief provides practical help to the hospital, for example all of the nappies, clothes and other baby utensils needed for the abandoned baby unit. Before Romanian Relief came to work at the hospital there were no nappies or spare clothing. These new born babies were left unchanged for days and also had to feed with their bottle resting on a sheet as there was no one there to feed them
